The Millennium … Umm … What?

Are you wondering what all of this Millennium business is about? You’re not alone. Many who love Jesus and live their lives in service to Him have never heard of the thousand-year reign of Christ. Is this because it is only mentioned briefly?

Here is a quick rundown of Prophets who reference this thousand-year period that will happen after Jesus returns to this Earth.

  1. Isaiah: He describes a future time of peace and righteousness. (e.g., Isaiah 11:6-9, 65:17-25).

  2. Jeremiah: He speaks of a time of restoration for Israel and Judah. (e.g., Jeremiah 23:5-6, 31:31-34).

  3. Ezekiel: He has visions of a future temple and restored Israel. (e.g., Ezekiel 40-48).

  4. Daniel: His prophecies about the end times include the establishment of God's kingdom. (e.g., Daniel 2:44, 7:27).

  5. Hosea: He speaks of a time when Israel will be restored and live in peace. (e.g., Hosea 2:18-23).

  6. Joel: He describes a future time of blessing and God's spirit poured out. (e.g., Joel 2:28-32, 3:17-21).

  7. Amos: He talks about the restoration of David’s fallen tent and a time of abundant blessing. (e.g., Amos 9:11-15).

  8. Micah: He mentions a future kingdom of peace and righteousness. (e.g., Micah 4:1-4).

  9. Zephaniah: He prophesies about a time when God will be king over all the earth. (e.g., Zephaniah 3:9-20).

  10. Zechariah: He speaks of a future time of peace, safety, and God's reign. (e.g., Zechariah 14:8-21).

  11. John: He provides a direct prophecy that speaks of the thousand years as it is fully revealed to him in a vision. (e.g., Revelation 20)

We believe that there is overwhelming support in scripture for the idea that Jesus will return and subjugate the earth and that this will happen physically when He returns to the Mount of Olives in Isreal, in the same way He departed (Acts 1:11).

Revelation 11:15 Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ.”

We believe that when he comes, Jesus will rule with a rod of iron (Rev 2:27) and the saints will rule with Him. We believe that the angels will remove all that causes offense and that the beginning of the Millennium will be strictly governed. But, toward the end, God will draw back and that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceived the whole earth, shall be loosed out of his prison, and shall go out to deceive the nations and gather them together again to battle, and the number of them will be as the sand of the sea. (Rev 20:7-8)
